I think this is fixed in Premiere 2023, but I work in premiere 2022 because in 2023 I can’t use the sub mix in the audio track mixer. (it mutes the audio)
This bug reminded me to always make sure to have a billion auto-saves. Version your project files and sequences in the prproj frequently. Unfortunately bugs and crashes happen – best to be prepared.
Here is what happened:
1. I used “Transcribe sequence” in the text window. and then started adjusting the captions, rewriting and re-timing.
2. At some point I did an extract edit shortening the sequence also cutting part of an upcoming caption on the Subtitle track.
3. From that point on the sequence did not play after the edit, I could still save the project!
after a minute or so Premiere was completely frozen.
4. After restart Premiere app the prproj was fine up to the same point in the sequence. If I moved past the point where I made the edit it froze again. older versions of the same sequence in the project where fine.
5. The solution is to first move the subtitle out of the way, then cut. see below.
